סיכום:Gestational weight gain is a fundamental predictor of health in both the short and long term; since alterations in the weight gain curve predispose in various ways to an increased risk of complications, the present study analyzes the incidence of alterations in the weight gain curve in pregnant women, characterizes the population and identifies their Body Mass Index at the San Cayetano Health Center; this research comprises an observational study of quantitative descriptive non-experimental cross-sectional type, consisting of a population of 221 controls of pregnant women from the database provided by the Health Center, from which we took a sample of 79 pregnancy controls of pregnant women who meet the inclusion criteria in the period from February - December 2021, We determined that there is a presence of alterations in the weight gain curve in the excessive weight gain in pregnant women, with 33% being predominant in June and November with 6% correspondingly, and a small weight gain in pregnancy representing 67%; the same is found with a high frequency in March with 16%; with the above, we concluded that 6 out of 10 women attended throughout their pregnancy have a small weight gain; likewise, we established that 34% were overweight and 27% had a standard weight; the remaining 39% were distributed in the categories of obesity type I with 30%, obesity type II with 8% and obesity type III with 1%; in addition, because of the lack of available information, it is not possible to characterize the population of pregnant women at the Health Center. In conclusion, the pregnant women of the San Cayetano Health Center have predominance of overweight with a higher incidence of slight weight gain
