| Sumari: | The effects relationated with the route of administration of methotrexate in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis patients who were attended in the Hospital IESS 2014 Loja were studied in this research work. It was carried on in 37 patients with 84 % of women. The Gastrointestinal effects were presented in 54% of the patients of the oral route, and 75% for intramuscularly route. The hair loss was demonstrated in 35 % whose used the oral route ; dry cough and dyspnea was presented with 25 % of patients of the intramuscularly route, 5% of the oral route and 8 % of subcutaneous. The elevation of liver transaminases were reported in 10% of the patients of the oral route. The DAS28 demonstrated remission in 35 % of patients who used the oral route, 31 % by the subcutaneous route ; They showed low activity 38% for the subcutaneous route and 50 % in the intramuscular ; Patients with high activity corresponded to 55 % by oral route, 31% of subcutaneous . The patients who used the methotrexate by subcutaneous route showed a better clinical control, the patients who used oral route reported more gastrointestinal upset. The presence of cough and dyspnea was presented equally in the three routes of administration. The elevation of liver transaminases were more frequently in patients who used the methotrexate by oral route. Key Words: Clinical evaluation, methotrexate, rheumatoid arthritis, side effects. |
