Gaia:The indicators of production and reproductive efficiency in the livestocks of Loja Canton are affected by different diseases that often process without observable clinical symptoms, other time these arise as endemic and many of them comes from zoonotic nature, in addition to this affections, there is the ignorance of the producer of such diseases, so people do not take preventive treatments and one of these conditions is the Infectious bovine rhinotracheitis - IBR, which epidemiological characteristic is the main study of this investigation. We worked with a sample of 400 bovines, which come from the different livestocks of the canton of Loja, Ecuador, of different age, race and sex. The blood samples obtained from the coccygeal vein and we extracted the serum to get them to the immune diagnostics iELISA, in the animal microbiology laboratory of the Biotechnology Center at National University of Loja. We use the IBR-Ad SVANOVIR commercial kit, the SVANOVA company for the detection and quantification of specific antibodies against the virus of infectious bovine rhinotracheitis. Simultaneously to the blood recollection we did the clinical evaluation of the animals to identify disease symptoms. Based on this evaluation, we found a prevalence of 48.75%, noting that the most positive cases came from Taquil (93.3%), San Sebastian (83.3%) and El Valle (75.0%). Moreover, it did not detect significant differences between animals of different sexes and different breed, but according to age rising, the susceptibility is bigger. It was observed high prevalence of IBR in apparently healthy animals without clinical symptoms at the time of obtaining the sample. It is considered that this special feature may be one of the elements for the rapid spread of the bovine disease livestocks.
