總結:Nowadays, the population is concerned with maintaining a good state of oral health, however, caries is still the most prevalent chronic disease in the different age groups, so that the university students of the Faculty of Human Health to assess the level of oral health knowledge and its influence on the oral health status of each of them. The purpose of this research is to determine the knowledge of oral health and its relationship with the quality of oral hygiene of students of the Faculty of Human Health of the National University of Loja. Materials, and Methods: It is a cross-sectional and relational study, in which eighth and tenth cycle students of the Faculty of Human Health participated, a survey was applied to assess oral health knowledge, as well as a clinical examination-that evaluated the CPOD and IHOS index. Results: In general, knowledge about oral dental health shows that the smallest proportion of participants involved in the present study has inadequate oral - dental health knowledge (20.70%), in comparison with the highest proportion of people with knowledge about adequate dental oral health (79.30%). A general analysis of the caries index (CPOD) tabulated and calculated according to the proposal and objectives, indicates a minimal proportion in the category “low caries index” (0.70%), compared to 99.30% of the "very low" category. Regarding the quality of oral hygiene (IHOS), we have that 4% of the study population is in THE REGULAR CATEGORY, while 96% have a GOOD CATEGORY. Conclusion: From the relationship between oral health knowledge and oral health conditions, product of the application of the Chi-square test non-parametric of association, it is concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship, Chi-squared values calculated are greater than the values of Chi-square tabulated, so it is within the rejection zone of the null hypothesis. Also, the value is less than 0.05 which implies that there is a statistically significant relationship between variables. Keywords: oral health, knowledge, IHOS, CPOD
