| Shrnutí: | Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) is one of the main causes of death worldwide, presenting a high socioeconomic and health cost, in addition to its disabling consequences. Its high mortality makes it important to establish immediate prevention actions since this pathology is linked to habits. , lifestyle and risk factors that can be identified early, to intervene in their prevention and control. The objective of this degree work was to evaluate the degree of knowledge, early recognition and measures to be adopted against the development of a stroke in patients with risk factors between the ages of 18 and 75 who reside in the Balcon Lojano and Miraflores neighborhoods of the city of Loja. A quantitative, cross-sectional, prospective and descriptive study was carried out; the population under study was made up of 145 patients. Results were obtained in which patients over 65 years of age predominated with 25.5% (n=37), females 65.5% (n=95), the most prevalent risk factor was high blood pressure, 58,6 .4% (n=85) 54.5% (n= 79) do not know the initial symptoms of stroke, 55.9% (n=81) do not know what the main risk factors for stroke are, as well as the measures primary preventions. In conclusion, female adults over 65 years of age constituted the most prevalent variables, with high blood pressure being the most frequent risk factor. There is a lack of knowledge about stroke in relation to its initial symptoms, risk factors and the primary prevention measures. Greater awareness was generated in the participating population after giving the talks on primary prevention measures |
