Zusammenfassung:This study examines the influence of the Hypodermic Needle Theory on the news coverage by Channel 4 during the national strike in 2019 in Sucúa, Ecuador. The research focuses on how media messages affect public perception and crisis reaction. A mixed methodology was employed, including surveys and interviews with residents of Sucúa and local opinion leaders. The results indicate that Channel 4's media coverage, characterized by the use of repetitive and emotionally charged messages, had a significant impact on public perception, exacerbating feelings of fear and anxiety. Additionally, a clear bias was observed in the presentation of events, aligned with the government’s stance, which influenced the polarization of public opinion. The Hypodermic Needle Theory was effectively applied in this context, demonstrating its relevance in shaping opinions and behaviors during times of crisis. The conclusions underscore the need for critical and balanced media analysis, as well as the complementary role of social networks in offering alternative perspectives. This study provides a profound understanding of the power of media in shaping social reality and the importance of informational diversity for a more balanced society. Keywords: influence, hypodermic needle, national strike, Ecuador, news.
