| Summary: | The hotel business is very important and sacrificed, requiring much effort and creativity; it has a close relationship with the tourism sector, generating resources and sources of direct and indirect employment, requiring constant changes and innovations that allow for better service and care users. For these reasons, this project aims to conduct a study of competitiveness in the hotel sector in the city of Loja, in order to improve performance, and user attention. To carry out this investigation, we took into consideration some aspects such as literature review, which refers to the guiding framework and conceptual study about. The methodology used consists of methods and research techniques used for the development of this research work, with its corresponding sample size. Results In a situation assessment is performed in the hotel industry in the city of Loja, According to the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Department of the City Municipality of Loja, the cadastre of the hotel sector in the city of Loja, 2011, in the containing the new classification consisting of Hotels, Hostels, Hostels Residency Residency Hotels, Inns and Guesthouses, likewise applied surveys managers and administrators of the 56 existing hotels in the city of Loja, also applied polls tourists who visited the city of Loja, in the period January-June 2011, then performed an analysis of factors affecting the hotel industry in which we analyze some factors that affect the competitiveness of hotels, also made a analysis of the forces of Porter. With this background we proceed to develop a SWOT analysis and study of the internal and external factors to determine their real strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and finally the matrix structure of high impact and weight. Within the Discussion addresses a competitiveness analysis hotel in the city of Loja on the basis of services rendered to the client; disclosed policies that should have the hotels according to tourism ministry to have a category in the hotel sector, proposes strategies to implement these policies and marches to improve the competitiveness of hotels in the city of Loja, in the proposal presented targets appearing 5 strategic objectives: Strategic Objective No. 1 Develop motivation and incentive plans to ensure that the staff of the company more efficient in their work to avoid loss of customers. Strategic Objective No. 2 Competitive pricing of housing to increase the demand for hotel services in low season. Strategic Objective No. 3 Develop training plans for staff working in the hotel business in the city of Loja, in order to improve care and customer service. Strategic Objective No. 4 Develop a plan that allows corporate advertising to publicize the benefits and services offered by institutions of Loja hotel. Strategic Objective No. 5 Design a maintenance plan of the hotel facilities. Finally, we present the conclusions and recommendations that have been identified within this research work. |
