Shrnutí:The mining area “El Faique”, code 485 is located in the Macará district, Macará canton, province of Loja, it is within the Macará river basin where volcanic rocks and tuffs of the Celica formation outcrop, close to the contact of the Tangula intrusive, there are mineralizations in the form of gold stockwork deposits, and scarce silver and quartz veins and veinlets; they are also associated with secondary minerals such as disseminated pyrite, chlorite, calcium carbonates and lesser proportion. The objectives of this investigation are to perform physical analysis such as specific weight, porosity, moisture content and pH of the ore material; chemical analysis to determine the chemical composition of the samples by atomic absorption spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence assays as a semiquantitative analysis to determine the mineralogy and fire assay analysis to determine mineral contents of economic interest; likewise, mineralogical analysis was performed to quantitatively determine the minerals present in the ore material through X-ray diffraction. From the mineralogical and petrographic analyses, and mineral chemistry of the ore material of the sector, gold characteristics were determined as mineral associations. Flotation and cyanidation tests were carried out based on the characteristics of the gold ore, in order to define the most relevant processes that can be applied in a beneficiation plant. This investigation allows recommending the most suitable method for the beneficiation or recovery process of the mineral of interest (gold), based on the variations in gold grain sizes, the presence of minerals that hinder mineral recovery, and the type of lithology in which the mineralization is located. Although all the deposit presents textures that benefit the gold liberation, the presence of gold grain sizes smaller than 1.0 mm points towards a mineral recovery process, by means of the leaching process by mechanical agitation (cyanidation), with recovery processes of 90% of gold, it could also be carried out by flotation and its recovery could reach 97%, but it should be analyzed if it is economically profitable or not. KEY WORDS: Hydrothermal processes, stockwork, atomic absorption, flotation, cyanidation, leaching.
