Beskrivelse
Summary:Forest species are a biological resource of great importance for its inhabitants since they provide economic, social and environmental sustenance. Jacaranda mimosifolia D.Don for the beauty of its flowers, it is a species used in streets and avenues. On the other hand, the wood is excellent for carpentry, light in color, short grained, light and workable. The study of the chemical characterization of wood together with the physical properties and chemical composition of the soil where a species develops allows knowing the components generated during its life period. This research was carried out with the purpose of generating information on the chemical composition and physical properties of the wood of a characteristic species of the urban trees of the main avenues of the city of Loja and the relationship of such properties with the chemical components of the soil. To determine the physical properties, once the branch of five selected Jacaranda mimosifolia trees was extracted, 3 test tubes were obtained per sample of approximately 10cm × 2.5cm. Moisture content, green density, equilibrium density, anhydrous density, basic density, and volumetric contraction were obtained. To obtain the chemical properties of the wood, the methodology (TAPPI) was used: Analysis of extractives, ash, lignin, and holocellulose present. For the chemical properties of the soil, a soil sample was obtained for each tree around its growth radius; the samples were sent to the INIAP to carry out analyzes of pH, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and available organic matter. For data analysis, the Kruskal Wallis non-parametric test was used with Tukey’s range test, and to evaluate the relationship between variables, the correlation coefficient was determined with Spearman's non-parametric test. The results indicate that the wood of Jacaranda mimosifolia, mostly presents a green density of 0.64 (g/cm3) and holocellulose of 81.59%. The soil where the individuals developed is practically neutral with an average pH of 6.94% and high levels of N, P, K, and organic matter. It is concluded that the greater or lesser concentration of components present in the wood of Jacaranda mimosifolia is influenced by the availability of macro elements in the soil.
