الملخص:Backyard poultry farming has gained popularity in rural populations due to the quality of the meat produced, which has experienced a growing demand, especially in the gastronomic tourism sector in the province of Zamora Chinchipe. In response to this trend, we evaluated the introduction of food alternatives, such as incorporating a diet with pot-bellied broiler Trichanthera gigantea, an abundant species in the Ecuadorian Amazon. We worked with 150 broilers from day 29 to 70 days of age, fed a balanced diet with different levels of Trichanthera gigantea (0 %, 5 %, 10 %); we assigned each treatment to 5 groups of 10 birds, where we evaluated the productive parameters; average daily gain GMD, average daily consumption CMD, feed conversion, mortality and profitability of each diet, we recorded the results and processed in SAS software, giving as a result that the 0% group obtained better GMD (1791 g) and CA (2.13), while the 5% group achieved a higher CMD (3646 g), in the whole trial there was a mortality of 3.3% and, we obtained the diet with the best profitability in the 0% control treatment since there was no difference in the prices for quality. In conclusion, including Trichanthera gigantea in diets for slow-growing birds is a valid option for the gastronomic tourism market segment since its meat is well accepted due to its presentation.
