Gaia:The objective of the present investigation was to determine productive parame- ters, forage potential and profitability of forage mixtures for the improvement of the feeding and productivity of dairy cattle. The experiment was carried out in the Chan- gaimina parish, Gonzanama´ province of Loja canton, through a completely randomi- zed block design, with 5 treatments and 5 repetitions (blocks) in a total area of 625 m 2, with 16 m plots 2, and roads of 1 m. Five forage mixtures were evaluated: i) Chilean grass (T0), ii) Chilean grass with centrosema (T1), iii) Brachiaria brizantha grass with centrosema (T2), iv) Brachiaria decumbes grass with centrosema (T3), and v) mulatto grass (Brachiaria hybrid) with centrosema (T4). The following variables were evaluated: height at first cut, botanical composition, biomass production (kg / 0.25m 2), nutritional quality, digestibility emph in situ, palatability and profitability of forage mixtures. The results were measured through a mixed model of repeated measures, using the SAS mixed procedure (SAS University edition). The averages were analyzed through a Tukey test. The p-values < 0.05 were considered signifi- cant, where the T0 treatment (Chilean) showed the highest height at 120 days post sowing with 76.1 cm, with the production of green biomass at 75 days post sowing The T0 treatment (Chilean) shows the highest value with 1.69 kg / 0.25m 2, the same being the most profitable when it comes to implementing the pasture with a benefit / cost ratio of 3,06. Key words: feed mix, feed potential, feed production, digestibility in situ, profi- tability.
