Summary:With environmental factors and adequate stimuli during the first years of life the nervous system will develop favorably; the stimulation will help the infant to acquire and develop motor, cognitive, socio-affective abilities and to improve the positive and loving relationship between the parents and the baby. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out at the Motupe health center; a structured interview aimed at mothers of children from 0 to 6 months of age, in which activities of the motor, communication and socio-affective areas were recorded, was used as an instrument; it was applied to 150 mothers who in turn were divided into two subgroups: a) mothers of children from 0 to 3 months of age and b) mothers of children from 4 to 6 months of age. Among the results of the study, the early stimulation practices performed by the mothers obtained in the subgroup a, in the psychomotor area, were determined to dress the child with comfortable clothes; in the communication area, they emit and repeat the child's sounds; in the socio-affective area, they coo, caress and show affection during various activities. In subgroup b, in the psychomotor area, they place the child to simulate walking or crawling, they put the child on their back and they take it from their fingers so that they feel; in the area of communication, they name things around them; and in the socio-affective area they walk the child through their surroundings showing them people or things. Key words: early stimulation, early stimulation practices, children from 0 to 6 months.
