| Riassunto: | The present study entitled: Playful strategies and academic performance in Mathematics of eighth grade students of basic general education, it was developed taking into account that this subject is present in daily life, however, traditionalist methodologies had been perceived as repetitive, difficult and boring which are still used for into teaching, generating a poor academic performance. Therefore, it was considered to demonstrate the relationship between playful strategies and academic performance in Mathematics, since they allow motivating and awakening the interest for learning; a research with qualitative approach was conducted with an exploratory perspective of documentary and descriptive type, the technique of literature review and the checking in was used, as an instrument a bibliographic logbook where the information was organized; and to achieve the objectives, graphs were developed that allowed the analysis of the playful strategies of different authors. It is concluded that the first variable is deeply related to academic performance, besides that it has multiple advantages such as promoting motivation, interest, provide participation, among others, conditioning the educational environment to improve learning, therefore, a favorable academic performance.
