Shrnutí:The objective of this research is to design a didactic reading guide using a corpus of graphic novels as a reference to provide teachers with a proposal in the field of didactics of literature to deepen the reading of graphic narrative; in this case, the graphic novel focused on the didactics of literature. Based on what was postulated by Rovira-Collado (2017), Cerilllo (2008), McClanahn & Nottingham (2019), Wallner & Eriksson (2020), and Villegas (2016), about visual literacy, as well as the analysis and establishment of a canon for graphic narrative. Therefore, to carry out the development of the guide, a process of analysis of two components was carried out: the Ecuadorian national curriculum in the areas of Language and Literature and Cultural and Artistic Education, and secondly, a systematic review of the scientific literature published since 2002 in terms of the didactics of graphic novels. Based on these processes, the reading guide was designed based on sections that delve into visual literacy and activities for reading the selected corpus. Finally, the most relevant results indicate that graphic novels have been included in the educational scenario as a way of encouraging reading and interdisciplinary works to work on different areas and topics of interest in educational curricula. Furthermore, reflecting on the didactic possibilities and the learning objectives of graphic narrative applicable to the Ecuadorian educational context.
