| Sumario: | Nowadays, the use of electronic equipment or devices, which are sources of harmonic distortion, carry on electric power grids to become receivers of non-linear currents. Distribution transformers are among the main equipment affected and that have had a great impact with non-linear currents. Because of the charges who are power supply have been constantly increasing, this causes an increase in transformation losses due to non-sinusoidal charges. Which are reflected by transformer's elevated heating, which leads to limiting its nominal capacity and increases its loss of useful life. Through derating, the real load that a transformer can support when there are harmonics can be calculated. The higher the harmonics, less efficient the transformer is and less current it can handle. Thus, the harmonics generate additional heating. Keywords: Current harmonics, non-sinusoidal currents, transformation losses, single-phase distribution transformers. |
