| Sumari: | The present research focuses on the development of students' socio-emotional competencies who are enrolled in the Basic Education Career at Universidad Nacional de Loja. As part of this analysis, a documentary review of the current curriculum is carried out regarding contents related to socio-emotional competencies. Through the application of a questionnaire, the actions proposed by teachers in academic activities and the skills attained by students in their formative process are explored. As for the results, it is discovered that there is no mention of emotions in the Redesign of the Basic Education Career; however, the majority of students have managed to achieve a Medium-High level, primarily in the dimensions of Emotional Regulation and Life Skills. Similarly, the surveyed teachers reach a medium-high and hiigh level in the development of emotional and social skills in their students. In the university context, the comprehensive training of students is strengthened through a progressive approach to the development of socio-emotional competencies. Conclusions are included to guide teachers in designing university programs that promote empathy, resilience, and critical thinking, contributing to the formation of academically competent and emotionally balanced individuals.
