Summary:In an organization, the Quality Management System allows to control, plan, prevent errors and continuously improve. The present research project has as main objective, "Design a quality management system for the pre-analytical area of the clinical laboratory of the Hospital Isidro Ayora, according to the ISO 9001-2015 standard". This quantitative research based on the descriptive cross-sectional method, where the situational evaluation of the pre-analytical area of the HIAL clinical laboratory was carried out, applying a checklist (CheckList) and using descriptive statistics to identify the level of compliance, and to the time update the SGC. Regarding the results, it is evident that the organization in chapter 4 "Context of the organization" presented a percentage of compliance of 50% and a non-compliance of 50%; Chapter 5 "Leadership" complies with 64.71%, a breach of 17.65% and partially complies with 17.65%; Chapter 6 "Planning" proposes a 60% compliance and 40% non-compliance; chapter 7 "Support" complies with 69.23%, has a partial compliance of 15.38% and a non-compliance of 15.38%; Chapter 8 "Operation" partially complies with 4.65%, does not comply with 16.28% and complies with 65.12%, 13.95% does not apply within the organization; chapter 9 "Performance evaluation" has a compliance of 36.84%, does not comply with 57.89%, and partially complies with 5.26%, finally chapter 10 "Improvement" meets 85.5% and partially complies with 12.50%. The information was updated in accordance with the ISO 9001-2015 standard, focused on the pre-analytical area that will support the achievement of organizational objectives
