Streszczenie:Alcohol consumption is a practice that is booming day by day in the university community due to several factors that predispose to its consumption. This research work was carried out at the Faculty of Human Health in the city of Loja-year 2019, with the aim of identifying alcohol consumption in medical students; characterize alcohol consumption according to the CAGE test and establish a relationship between the type of consumption and age, sex, marital status, religion and type of coexistence. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out, with a sample of 269 randomly chosen students who met the inclusion criteria, only the students who had ever drunk alcohol were given the CAGE test, the following were obtained Results: Most of the respondents are social drinkers with 70.6% although there are 1.6% of students with alcohol dependence. The age ranges of the students who consume the most alcohol are between 20 and 22 years old. The index of risky and harmful consumption is higher in male students with 10.71%. Single students experienced higher alcohol consumption with 93.43%. Catholic students compared to students of other religions with 80.95% and as for students who live alone compared to students who live with their parents the consumption rate is relatively similar.
