| Samenvatting: | Maize is the main commercial grass crop in the country. Several researches have allowed to generate a better use of the resources used, density and good management provide excellent conditions for the plants to develop and present high yields. Environmental conditions can modify the phenological characteristics of maize, as well as the incorrect application of fertilisers can affect yield. The objective of the following research was to evaluate the yield of four hard maize hybrids under two types of fertilisation: traditional nitrogen based fertilisation and Ecuaquímica fertilisation based on N, P and K. The trial was established in the canton of Gonzanamá, parish of Nambacola, Piedra Grande neighbourhood, between February and August 2020, under a completely randomized design with a bifactorial arrangement, with eight treatments and four replications. Phenology, growth, leaf area index (LAI), thermal integral, biomass, dry weight, number of rows per ear, number of grains per row, grain weight, yield in each treatment and harvest index were evaluated. Regarding phenology, it was determined that the genotype DK 7088 is earlier (197 days), compared to the genotype SOMMA, which took the longest to reach each phonological stage with a total of 205 days. Regarding the IAF, the genotype DK 7500 with fertilization based on N, P and K presented a higher leaf area index (7.14) in comparison with the genotype SOMMA with fertilization based on N, P and K (4.51). The genotype DK 7088 with N, P and K fertilization was the treatment that showed the highest yield (8 1556 kg/ha) compared to the other treatments. This research shows the importance of technical management and adequate supply of nutrients that should be provided to the maize to increase yields and thus improve the economy of corn growers. Key words: Zae mays, hybrid maize, phenology, growth, yield. |
