要約:Breastfeeding is the natural first food for children, it provides all the energy and nutrients they need during their first months of life, and continues providing them at least half of their nutritional needs during the second half of the first year and up to one third during the second year of life (World Health Organization 2015). With this background the development of this research arises that, is to determine the knowledge of breastfeeding benefits of women who come to the Health Center No. 2 of Loja. The study was descriptive- transversal, the instrument that applied was a survey directed to lactating women, the collected data and they were placed in simple and cross tables, supported by Excel and Microsoft Word program, for the analysis and interpretation data other studies were checked in the conceptual framework. The universe was constituted by 115 breastfeeding women, of which 92% of them know about breastfeeding, more than half have general knowledge about the importance of colostrum, the nutrients that breast milk has, its duration is up to 2 years old, and actions that induce the increasing milk production; 85% declares to know about breasts hygiene when breastfeeding. As regards the benefits, 70% reported knowing the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and 77% know the benefits that it has for the mother, allowing conclude that. It is still a priority to continue spreading knowledge of breastfeeding, and their benefits as it is essential for physical and mental development of the child.
