Yhteenveto:The present investigation “Geological geotechnical characterization on the Intervalles road from 6 +060 to 9 +100, located in La Era, El Tambo parish, Catamayo canton, Loja province.” is focused on making the geological characterization of three-kilometer geotechnical track in order to know the physical-mechanical characteristics of the geomaterials necessary for the knowledge of the current state of the slopes of the track section. It began with the general recognition, giving way to the topographic survey, implementing a new method through the use of unmanned Aerial Vehicle Fixed Wing type with high resolution camera (Drone) and integrated Dual GPS for obtaining a set of aerial photos with geolocation of the section, generation of the orthophoto, the 3D model, as well as the level curves, base information for the development of the project. The information was obtained through geological mapping and measurement of structures, being able to determine that the three-kilometer section generally consists of Dacitic Tuff, Andesitic Tuff, Vulcannosedimentary Rocks: Breccia and volcanic agglomerate, Shale with sandstone intercalations, including Colluvial deposits and an Alluvial deposit, for which standardized geotechnical tests such as the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) were performed in the abscissa 6 + 100 and 8 + 900, using ASTM 1586-67, in addition to laboratory tests according to ASTM standards such as: granulometry, moisture content, Atterberg limits, for samples taken from the test; the simple compressive strength for five samples extracted from slopes 4 (a-b), 6,8,14, and a rock core from the slope 12 was obtained for its consequent obtaining of the physical properties; considering the length of the section, three lines of seismic refraction with 30.00 meters in length and a depth of 10.00 meters of exploration were performed. For the geomechanical classification of the rock massifs, the respective scan of slope discontinuities was done to obtain geomechanical characteristics of the discontinuities, therefore obtaining the RQD (Rock Quality Designation) (Deere, 1989), RMR (Rock Mass Rating) (Bieniawski, 1973. Act. 1989), and GSI (GSI Classification, Geological strength index), Hoek, (1994) from RMR. The general stability analysis was used to determine the slopes susceptibility of Dacitic Tuff, Andesitic Tuff with medium degree of weathering, Breton Tuff of andesitic composition and shales with sandstone intercalation previously establishing the critical points for their analysis by obtaining parameters of Hoek & Brown criterion such as cohesion and friction angle calculated with the Roclab Software, distributed free of charge by the Rocscience company and, consequently, the calculation of the slope safety factor using the limit equilibrium method (Bishop simplified method, Janbu simplified and Spencer).
