| Shrnutí: | Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune joint disease because the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, primarily affects women. Pathology which particularly affects the joints causing them chronic inflammation, pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of mobility of the body. Like other autoimmune diseases, from the genetic point of view, this is a complex disease , that is, his legacy does not obey the Mendelian and polygenic ( 1,2,8 ) The epidemiological transition gives rough statistics on the prevalence of this disease, with approximately 1% (21 million people ) of the world population is affected , in Spain reported a prevalence of 0.5 % AR . In Greece, of 8547 people over 19 years is reported 0.68 % prevalence. In Latin America there is an overall prevalence of 0.2 % in people > 15 years. In Ecuador, for 1500 people> 18 years, the prevalence of AR was 0.9 % ( 3.4 ) in Loja , according to existing data Isidro Ayora Regional Hospital for the year 2011 , tells us that in 1821 people 20 presented the disease which is 1% . The study was based on detection of serum antibodies Anti CCP ( cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody ) and anti- FR ( rheumatoid factor ) for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. The first test has a sensitivity of 60 to 80 % and a specificity of 95-98% , while the second has a sensitivity of 65-80 % and a specificity of 85% (26). The results indicate that 61 apparently healthy offspring of patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis show elevated levels of 4 Anti -CCP at a rate of 7% as opposed to just one , which accounts for 2% , was positive for FR . Early detection of the disease helps us to prevent it , likewise, know the tendency to suffer through inheritance , and if factors such as age , gender and even the daily diet may be involved.
