Riassunto:Vaginal childbirth complications are a serious problem within the health system of Ecuador is why there are several strategies to reduce maternal mortality. Complications arise at any time in vaginal childbirth care be a major cause of hospitalization or invasive procedures. This study aimed to identify the main complications of vaginal delivery, the frequency with which they arise, the affected anatomic segment during care, and other variables such as patient age and parity. We conducted a longitudinal cross sectional study with a sample of 80 women who had complications in vaginal delivery care, we used a data collection sheet that were obtained from medical records, with the results: The 26.67 % of all women treated for vaginal delivery had complications , the most common vaginal canal lacerations in 66.66% particularly grade I ( 75 % ) . The anatomical segment was most frequently affected is the vulvar region by 71 %. The highest percentage of complications occurred in patients between 21-25 years of age (41.25%), second-gestation (42.5 %), with a period between births between 2-7 years (86.25%), in as the newborn in 97.5 % APGAR score was higher than 8-10.
