Conocimientos de las madres sobre los cuidados de los neonatos en fototerapia en el Hospital General Puyo. Año 2013 – 2014

The research focused on the identification of the level of knowledges of the mothers on the cares of the neonates in phototherapy of the General Hospital Puyo. Arises the interest to investigate to the having observed that are not correctly apply the standards of biosecurity what constitutes a risk factor for contract nosocomial infections in neonates that are the most vulnerable. The present performed work with the mothers that attended with their children to the phototherapy. Was applied the technique of the survey with its instrument the questionnaire to the 32 mothers of the neonates. The purpose of this research was contribute the improvement of the health of neonates in phototherapy, with the order of reducing the risk factors to which they are exposed newborns. The research design was of type fixed transversal, descriptive, bibliographic, field. Was observed, that the largest number of mothers is 15-19 years with a 47 %, who are those that have their children in phototherapy, the same that have knowledges of the phototherapy, but do not apply biosecurity measures in the management of the neonate, due to the lack of vigilance for part of nursing, lack of inputs and by neglect in them, especially for its characteristic of adolescent condition standing out as a major factor the washing of hands. The planning of nursing interventions are proposed on basis of the results obtained from the research. As proposed, the researcher developed a manual specifying the techniques of management of mothers to their children in phototherapy. Keywords: Newborn, phototherapy, care
