Tilføj Tag | Summary: | Our research was aimed at identifying the Preterm Newborns with underweight and their relationship with neonatal hypoglycemia in the Area of Neonatology of the General Hospital Isidro Ayora of Loja, period February-July 2016, for which a descriptive and prospective study was carried out, with a sample of 40 hospitalized preterm newborns with underweight, to which the values of glucose were identified, information that was recorded in the data collection sheet prepared for this purpose. Of the 40 preterm newborns with low birth weight, 28 presented hypoglycemia; from them the 82% debuted with symptomatic type Hypoglycemia (hypo-activity, weak crying, and rejection to the feeding) and 18% with asymptomatic hypoglycemia. Finished the study it is concluded that there is a close relationship between prematurity and the appearance of neonatal hypoglycemia. KEY WORDS: Preterm newborn, low birth weight, hypoglycemia. |
