סיכום:This research was conducte in order to identify the factors causing pneumonia in children under two years hospitalized in the pediatric ward of Hospital José María Velasco Ibarra city of Tena, due to the high rate of cases occurring especially in this age group. There fore implementing a nursing plan that contributes to the decrease in the number of cases in this condition was proposed. The design was not experimental, descriptive literature and field. Technical survey for which a questionnaire to 50 mothers of children who had pneumonia and was also made an observation guide in the community with the following datos was applied was used, 82% of patients living in rural areas, 74% know little about the disease in question, only 36% have potable water and 42% sewerage, it was observed that housing and environmental conditions are prevalent factors contributing to the onset of pneumonia. Determined that the main factors causing pneumonia are ignorance about the disease and its prevention. Therefore an educational proposal was developed, for which a manual containing aspects of prevention and primary management of pneumonia was designed, training mothers of children were made and the manual and brochures developed by the author and translated into Kichwa delivered.
