| Özet: | Creole hen raising is a significant activity in the economy of Ecuadorian families, especially for families in rural areas. The constant increase and scarcity of inputs for poultry feed represent risks for this sector, so it is necessary to look for food alternatives for the birds in order to optimize the resources of the area. For this reason, the objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of an artisanal feed on the production of eggs of Creole hens in the canton of El Pangui. The research was of the experimental type with a quantitative approach in which 30 experimental units (Creole hens) were used in two treatments with three replicates each, treatment 1 (T1) with 100% corn and treatment 2 (T2) with 100% handmade balanced feed, in which the following variables were evaluated: feed consumption, weight increase, egg weight, feed conversion, mortality and profitability. For the statistical analysis, ANOVA and comparison of means with Tukey's test (P < 0.05) were performed. The results showed that the T2 treatment obtained lower feed consumption with an average of 120 g/day/animal, better feed conversion of 3.92, higher percentage of egg production 57% with an average weight of 54 g, yolk coloration on a colorimetric scale from 1 to 15 obtained an average score of 10, and also obtained the best profitability of 21.27%. In conclusion, the use of homemade feed in the feeding of Creole hens improves production performance and profitability |
