Summary:The swine sector in Loja is vital in the economy and food security to meet the demand for food of animal origin, however, it has been observed the presence of different foodborne diseases on farms, in which the microbiota plays a key role in protecting against pathogenic diseases in swine production, for this reason, the present work proposed to characterize the enterobacteria present in feces of pigs on farms in the Loja canton, 30 family farms were evaluated in greater proportion, observing a higher incidence of lava and balanced diet with a high prevalence of gastrointestinal problems; pools of the samples collected were analyzed and three genera of bacteria Proteus vulgaris, Escherichia coli and Shigella spp. were identified, the latter being present in the category of weaned piglets and mother sows, and associated factors were evaluated, obtaining a significant p-value in the use of beta-lactam antibiotics with the presence of Proteus vulgaris.
