Resumo:In the prison system of Ecuador, it has rehabilitation programs for those deprived of liberty, such as: educational, social, cultural, focusing on recovering their physical, emotional and psychic state, it is worth mentioning that all these activities are developed with an individual comprehensive program and voluntary, leading to question how successful and effective rehabilitation in prisons is, depending on the individual voluntarism of each person deprived of liberty, whether or not they participate in the programs offered by the Social Rehabilitation Centers and, if the volitional character generates a change in behavior, managing to fulfill each of their commitments and responsibilities, to deliver to society people with a different renewed thought, after having served a sentence. The general objective of the research is to know, if, the voluntariness of people deprived of their liberty to participate in rehabilitation and social reintegration programs and the situation of social rehabilitation centers in Ecuador helps to achieve adequate comprehensive rehabilitation. This article was directed within the documentary analysis as a research method, incorporating doctrinal concepts and hemerographic documents on the subject under study.
