Izvleček:The study presented is an analysis concerning the design of the flexible pavement structure by the traditional AASHTO method and the structure of the flexible pavement reinforced with Geomallas that is applied to the access roads to the citadel La Milina of canton Salinas. At present, one of the most efficient systems in technology for highway or roadway applications is the inclusion of Geosynthetics, such as Geogrids, generating a system of structural reinforcement, this being an effective method, because it helps to reduce design thicknesses, Improves the performance of the pavement structure, and alleviates problems of structural incapacity since all these factors are visualized in future in the rolling layer as structural failures. For the “Flexible Pavement Design” parameters will be required to be able to perform the correct analysis and calculation of the determined thicknesses in the reinforced and non-reinforced structure of each method that will be used. A study of vehicular traffic will be carried out on the access roads to the Milina of the Canton Salinas, and different types of soil tests will be carried out in the laboratory of the Civil Engineering Career located at Santa Elena Peninsula State University, which will serve to determine the quality and bearing capacity of the soil. The pavement design was performed using the ASSTHO 93 method based on the structural number of the Sublayer and layer analysis. And to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Bi-oriented or Biaxial Geogrids, the reinforced Geogrids design was made using the PAVCO Method that is oriented and modified based on the traditional design of ASSTHO 93. Likewise, with the use of this technology, a significant reduction in the thicknesses of the layers of the flexible pavement structure is demonstrated, reason why, a reduction of costs in the construction of flexible pavements can be obtained.
