要約:In order to characterize the dietary and biological habits of the species, a study was carried out in Posorja - Guayas Province from May to August 2015. This species of commercial value distributed in local and international markets has generated great demand to its high level of consumption and commerce, making it a direct target for the fishing fleets that operate on the resource. Despite their importance, few studies indicate the eating habits of this species. A total of 260 specimens were analyzed from the artisanal and industrial fishing activity of the study area. The stomach contents of the corvina were analyzed through quantitative analysis, numerical method, volumetric, relative frequency and amplitude of the trophic niche. The main prey found were: crustaceans with 74.25%, proving that Protrachypenaeus is the most abundant prey, fish 21.13% and mollusk 2.43%, these being the indicators of the trophic plot of consumption of the corvina. The highest feed intake in the species Cynoscion phoxocephalus was recorded in June and August presenting a mixed generalized diet by different types of prey in their trophic habits, being able to change their feeding in relation to the distribution zones of the species. Keywords: dietary habits, Cynoscion phoxocephalus, characterize, trophic.
