A semi-structured interview was conducted with an intentional non-probabilistic sample of 10 people domiciled in the Parish, aged between 30 and 50 years, with serious material losses, but who did not lose family members and continued to live in the sector. The analysis of the impact was performed on both community and individual levels. The study found that there was a deterioration in the sense of community due to the material and emotional loss that people experienced; while at the individual level there was the presence of health problems, sleep problems, fear and insecurity. |

The study found that there was a deterioration in the sense of community due to the material and emotional loss that people experienced; while at the individual level there was the presence of health problems, sleep problems, fear and insecurity.En el siguiente este trabajo se presentan los resultados de la investigación realizada en la Parroquia 5 de Agosto de la ciudad de Esmeraldas, cuyo propósito fue conocer el impacto psicosocial del terremoto del 16 de abril de 2016. Para ello se utilizó el enfoque cualitativo, con un diseño no experimental sincrónico y se aplicó una entrevista semiestructurada a una muestra no probabilística intencional de 10 personas domiciliadas en la Parroquia, con edades de entre los 30 y 50 años, con pérdidas materiales graves, que no perdieron familiares y que continuaron viviendo en el sector.
