| Shrnutí: | This work present voltage profile improvements to the electrical power system for a 9 busbar IEEE standard case, through the inclusion of a synchronous static compensator (STATCOM), a well-known power electronic based equipment. More than 20 years of investigations have demonstrate its performance to compensate reactive power in response to voltage variations at transmission levels. For the sake of analysis, its structure, operational principles and mathematical models are briefly presented. Its steady state is also studied using a modified Newton-Raphson based power flow algorithm. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the equipment by its insertion in the 9 busbar IEEE standard case. There is no attempt to optimize neither the STATCOM sizing nor its location within the electrical power system. Power flow simulations show the improved voltage profiles for specific load conditions. |
