| Sumari: | This study examines the relationship between academic burnout, anxiety, and depression among nursing students in Cayambe, Ecuador. The main objective was to analyze how academic burnout correlates with levels of anxiety and depression in this population. A quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design was utilized, with a sample of 66 students selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Two instruments were administered virtually: the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Beck Anxiety and Depression Scale. Additionally, the relationships between burnout, anxiety, and depression were explored using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results revealed a significant prevalence of burnout at mild to moderate levels, affecting 68% of students, with 4.5% presenting clinical levels. Depression prevalences remained mostly at a minimal level, affecting 60.6% of the students, while anxiety showed a predominant prevalence at the mild level, with 36.4% of cases. Moderate positive correlations were found between burnout and anxiety (r=0.534), as well as between burnout and depression (r=0.407), and a moderate correlation between anxiety and depression (r=0.534), suggesting a significant interaction between these factors. In conclusion, the research highlights the need for specific interventions to address academic burnout to prevent the development of anxiety and depression disorders among nursing students. These findings provide a foundation for future research and emotional support strategies in demanding educational contexts. |
