Even if interculturality is present more than ever, many times is just a label with political purposes because, as it will be demonstrated, the Andean world and its appropriation generate great expectation and notice. It is somehow possible to say that interculturality does not stand for a real practice as far as respecting another culture’s elements does not necessarily imply an exchange. This academic article will highlight some failures that appear when topics such as ancestral, mythological, Andean and even intercultural ones are addressed, taking into account basic education in Quito, in reference also to the constitutional and legal system which is nowadays current in the whole Ecuadorian territory. |

Si bien es cierto la interculturalidad está más presente que nunca, no pasa de ser un término cotidiano para el quehacer político, ya que como se verá, el mundo andino y su apropiación genera mucha convocatoria y expectativa. En cierto punto se puede llegar a decir que la interculturalidad no representa una práctica real, en la medida que respetar los elementos de la otra cultura no quiere decir necesariamente intercambio. La educación básica se basa en este momento a proyectar a los alumnos al mundo globalizado, haciéndolos más competentes y eficientes para alinearlos al sistema que rige al mundo, sin embargo es muy importante generar un contraste, pues este proceso invisibiliza al mundo andino del cual como ecuatorianos somos parte.
