Описание
Итог:This investigation reports the antioxidant activity of essential oils of two Andean species Clinopodium nubigenum (Kunt) Kuntze and Baccharis latifolia (Ruiz & Pav.) Pers., which were obtained by hydro-distillation. β-carotene test was the direct method for the antioxidant activity evaluation, besides the free radical scavenging capacity was evaluated by the methods 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis(3 ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic) acid (ABTS). The chemical analysis and identification of both essential oils was conducted by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC MS), detecting 55 compounds in Clinopodium nubigenum, 45 of them were identified, the majority compounds were carvacrol acetate (42, 17%), carvacrol (20.66%), pulegone (6.3%) thymol (5.54%) and p-cymene (5.2%). In Baccharis latifolia essential oil 19 compounds were detected, 18 of them were identified, the majority compounds were α-phellandrene (18.11%), limonene (17.04%), norhalkendin (9.50%) and andro encecalinol (5.41%). Clinopodium nubigenum showed significant antioxidant activity similar to the essential oil of Thymus vulgaris used as natural reference. In Baccharis latifolia oil activity was moderate. TLC-DPPH method was used to identify the responsible molecules for the antioxidant activity. These molecules were revealed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC MS).
