| description | This article aims to analyze the journalistic discourse of El Comercio and El Telégrafo on the events around the Animal Welfare Organic Law, published during the period October 2014-May 2015, a period of more news about flow is law. For this the method of discourse analysis proposed by Teun Van Dijk is used. The article is the result of a much broader analysis that the assessment of the impact of this law on the mass media referred Ecuadorians. The analysis shows that there was a positive treatment to the Organic Law of Welfare in both newspapers analyzed. This treatment is done from the use of imagery that enhance the awareness of the reader to animals and their owners. Among them those related to the animal is part of the family, it is heroic, cheerful and brings joy among others. A strategy of quite marked polarization in which opponents of the law are perpetrators and victims animals and owners are also used. The law is designed as a matter of progress, development and prosperity for society as a whole not just for those with animals today. The analysis leads to conclusion. |

The analysis leads to conclusion.El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar el discurso periodístico de El Comercio y El Telégrafo sobre los hechos alrededor de la Ley Orgánica Bienestar Animal, publicados durante el periodo octubre 2014-mayo 2015, periodo de más flujo de noticias respecto a esa ley. Para ello se utiliza el método del análisis del discurso planteado por Teun Van Dijk. El artículo es el resultado de un análisis mucho más amplio en el que se contempla la valoración del impacto que tiene esta ley en los medios de prensa ecuatorianos. El análisis pone en evidencia que existió un trato positivo a la Ley Orgánica de Bienestar en ambos periódicos analizados. Este tratamiento se realiza a partir de la utilización de metáforas que potencian la sensibilización del lector para con los animales y sus dueños. Entre estas las vinculadas a que el animal es parte de la familia, es heróico, es alegre y trae alegría entre otras. También se utiliza una estrategia de polarización marcada en la que los detractores de la ley son victimarios y los animales y dueños son víctimas. La ley es concebida como un tema de progreso, desarrollo y bienestar para la sociedad en su conjunto no solo para los que poseen animales en la actualidad.
