From the asphaltic one, it is necessary to have the same effect as the one of the asphalt mixture, which is positively and sustainably derived from its technical and scientific applicability. Folder and especially to its period of durability. For the analysis of the behavior of the mixtures, the study was based on the design of a hot asphalt mixture (standard) by the Marshall method, which served as reference for the comparison of its physical - mechanical properties with respect to asphalt mixtures added with Certain percentages by weight and / or volume of slag. Concluding in two tentative scenarios when comparing them with sample "A" (standard sample), for the design of the asphalt mixture with steel slag, as sample "B" and "E". According to the results obtained and its relation to Stability - Fluency, adequate able to maintain its shape under repeated loads, making this a flexible pavement suitable for Ecuadorian highways. Sample "B" was determined for its design. This sample complies with the design parameters established with proportions of 37.80% of coarse aggregate (slag), 48.87% of intermediate - fine aggregate, 5.53% of Filler and 7.8% of AC - 20 asphalt cement. Allowing this way to give an alternative solution in its reuse and its problematic concerning its location and final deposit of steel slag. |

La facultad dirigió la investigación en la reutilización de escoria siderúrgica como parte del agregado, en la mezcla asfáltica, lo que derivó positivamente y sustentablemente su aplicabilidad técnica, científica, en un importante aporte al mejoramiento de sus características y sobre todo a su período de durabilidad. Para el análisis del comportamiento de las mezclas, el estudio partió del diseño de una mezcla asfáltica en caliente (patrón) mediante el método Marshall, la misma que sirvió de referencia para la comparación de sus propiedades físico – mecánicas con respecto a mezclas asfálticas adicionadas con ciertos porcentajes en peso y/o volumen de escoria. Concluyendo en dos escenarios tentativos al compararlos con la muestra “A” (muestra patrón), para el diseño de la mezcla asfáltica con escoria siderúrgica, como son la muestra “B” y “E”. Conforme a los resultados obtenidos y su relación a la Estabilidad – Fluencia, adecuada capaz de mantener su forma bajo cargas repetidas, haciendo de este un pavimento flexible idóneo para las carreteras del Ecuador. Se determinó la muestra “B” para su diseño. Dicha muestra cumple con los parámetros de diseño establecidos con proporciones del 37.80% de agregado grueso (escoria), 48.87% de agregado intermedio – fino, 5.53% de Filler y un 7.8% de cemento asfáltico AC – 20.
