Comunicación intercultural en el ritual fúnebre y la práctica ceremonial ancestral del barrio La Balvina, parroquia Amaguaña

This paper addresses the funeral ritual of the Balbina neighborhood belonging to the parish of Amaguaña, where the elderly population and a minority of adults participate in traditional games after the death of a person. Each element in this ritual keeps a spiritual meaning where laughter and fun hides the pain caused by the death of a loved one. Several theoretical contributions on intercultural communication and its interpretation have been taken into account. Of these, Nestor Garcia Canclini (2012) focuses on intercultural communication developed within villages influenced by internal and external migration studies of its inhabitants, Alejandro Grimson (2000) through their categories of analysis and interpretation, Edgar Morin (2007) with contributions concerning death and conceptions of human beings and Patricio Guerrero (2002) detailing the evolution of culture. The funeral ritual of Balvina shows the existence of funeral traditions practiced by the people who seek to maintain the survival of their identity and strength of the mythical spirit preserved from their ancestors. All this is presented in this paper considering the intercultural communication as part of the interpretation and analysis of its elements.
