Summary:The distribution network requires sophisticated equipment to improve efficiency and reduce the rate of non-technical losses that exist in the system; through an AMI system can enter service needed to reach improving efficiencies that exist in the distribution system, AMI since a system is able to measure, control, and monitor the distribution system; through the reuse of a wireless network allows us to integrate the distribution system characteristics that are required to mitigate these shortcomings. For this it is essential to know the wireless communications that can be implemented or are already in full operation in a rural area, to perform the modeling and relevant simulations to test the feasibility of incorporating the new smart metering service. With increased demand and is essential to incorporate smart metering in order to not only reduce waste, but also to improve the efficiency of the distribution system of electricity; therefore through the analyzes presented both capacity and traffic may determine whether to reuse technology for implementing smart metering in the distribution system is feasible
