Opis
Izvleček:This study analyzes the social perceptions of mental health among the population attending the psychosocial intervention program “Mano Solidaria”, implemented by the Salesian Organization in the La Tola neighborhood of Quito. This program aims to provide comprehensive support to people in vulnerable situations by offering basic resources, psychological care, and spiritual guidance. Though a qualitative approach, the research explores the experiences and opinions of three main groups: the program beneficiaries, those responsible for its implementation, and members of the surrounding community. The results reveal how structural factors such as poverty, unemployment, and limited access to basic services negatively impact both the quality of life and the emotional well-being of the population. Additionally, challenges within the program are identified, such as the lack of a sense of belonging among beneficiaries, dependency on limited resources, and social tensions within the community. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening psychosocial intervention strategies, promoting group cohesion, and fostering the program's economic sustainability to achieve a significant and lasting impact on participants' mental health.
