Summary:Ecuador is an important exporter of flowers in the world, its diversity and quality are an international appeal and a major economic contribution to the national development. This industry is threatened by numerous pests, one of the most harmful is the “red spider mite” Tetranichus urticae. In order to control this mite, some dangerous, synthetic pesticides are used, which can cause cancer, and there are currently no measures to mitigate or control their use.
