Sistematización de experiencia del proyecto manejo y conservación de las Tortugas Charapas, en la comunidad Cofán Zábalo, del período 2008 – 2010.

This systemize the experience generated by the community Cofán Zábalo, on the management and conservation of the Charapa turtle from 2008 to 2010, although the project has existed for over twenty years. The territorial context was developed within a protected area decreed by the Ecuadorian state in the 70s, known as the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, located in the province of Sucumbíos. In the development of this document, several conceptual frames were utilized to address the social, economic, environmental and cultural reality of the community, above all else an emphasis was given to the intrinsic relationship that exists between conservation and culture that promotes long-term empowerment and sustainability of the project. Finally, it concludes by presenting the impacts generated by the project during its execution, which have served as the base to awaken environmental consciousness and change attitudes through the development of purposeful actions that link a relationship of harmony and respect between humans and nature, not only in the community were the project was proposed first, but also in the neighbour communities.
