In the year of 2000 the shelter got a land of 5000 m that was on the street Tumbez y Bahia de Caraquez on San Diego; thanks to the help of “Agencia Española de Dios” in Spain, this will be opening on March of 2002 and this will recived 300 people. The shelter has become the home of sixty adults who are abandoned whit different health problems, and also 200 people recived bed and food inside the shelter. |

The shelter has become the home of sixty adults who are abandoned whit different health problems, and also 200 people recived bed and food inside the shelter.El albergue San Juan de Dios se fundó el día 09 de diciembre de 1987, en la ciudad de Quito sector el tejar, desde ese momento el albergue se comprometió y brindo ayuda a enfermos mentales, ancianos abandonados, madres e hijos en situación de riesgo, migrantes nacionales y extranjeros en desempleo y desplazados por la violencia, los cuales requerían un lugar donde pernoctar, alimentarse y proveerse de abrigo. En el año 2000 se adquirió un terreno de 5,000 metros cuadrados ubicado en la calle Tumbez y Bahía de Caraquez, sector de San Diego; gracias a la ayuda de la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional, la Orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Dios en España, se inaugura en marzo del 2002 el nuevo centro asistencial, con capacidad para 300 personas. El albergue se ha vuelto el hogar de más de 60 adultos abandonados con diversas discapacidades.
