Hoy en día el fútbol es considerado el rey de los deportes, por gran parte de la sociedad planetaria. En la práctica de este deporte existen simbologías y representaciones, que van más allá del ámbito meramente deportivo. Algunas de éstas, se han convertido en fuentes de manipulación para varios intereses de ciertos grupos. Este artículo tiene como temática principal investigar los antecedentes y analizar las simbologías y representaciones presentes en este fenómeno social llamado fútbol. Los elementos simbólicos que se considerará en este estudio son: la indumentaria, el balón, y el estadio. Pues, estos son los signos de este deporte que más intervienen en la vida cotidiana de la sociedad. Igualmente, se analiza su capacidad de unir a las masas.
