Achoimre:The Hermanos Carrel and Whymper shelters located in the Chimborazo Fauna Production Reserve are an important part of the region's tourism, attracting both domestic and international tourists. Tourism in the reserve has undergone a change, rendering the shelters obsolete to current needs. Originally designed to accommodate mountaineers, they are now visited by various types of tourists such as families and groups of friends. Additionally, the Whymper shelter is closed to the public due to lack of self-sustainability, limiting its capacity and causing deterioration due to disuse. For this reason, the present integrative project work has focused on identifying the current state of the shelters, as well as determining spatial needs and user requirements, in order to propose a redesign that promotes regional tourism and adapts to the natural environment. The methodology to be used is a qualitative approach, employing techniques such as observation, semi-open interviews, and case analysis, along with tools such as surveys and current status sheets, to gain a clear understanding of the current architectural program. Additionally, interviews will be conducted with experts in the field and references will be analyzed to determine current needs. The proposal is based on formal, functional, and specific strategies for each shelter, achieving a distribution in line with the architectural program and user needs.
