Summary:The present project focuses on creating designer clothing that integrates traditional weaving techniques using toquilla straw. Its main objective is to increase the use of this fiber in textile design by exploring creative and productive processes. By applying designer clothing criteria, innovative garments are developed. Toquilla straw is a vegetable fiber extracted from a palm that grows on the Ecuadorian coast. Its traditional weaving, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, is passed down through generations in farming families. People learn these techniques by observing and imitating their elders from an early age. The tradition of weaving toquilla straw in Ecuador, especially in the Manabí region, represents an ancestral heritage that has endured over the years. This craftsmanship has not only maintained its relevance in the region but has also become a symbol of Ecuadorian cultural identity and artisanal tradition. Today, weavers from various communities in Manabí have organized into associations to process the straw, market their products nationally and internationally, and pass on this craft to new generations. Innovation and sustainability in the clothing industry are taking an interesting path, especially with the incorporation of traditional techniques like toquilla straw weaving. This ancestral method from Ecuador not only highlights artisanal skill but also promotes sustainable practices by using a renewable natural resource
