總結:The present research focuses on the development of space-functional criteria for the rehabilitation and reintegration of incarcerated individuals, specifically in the context of the Ambato Social Rehabilitation Center. The methodology employed adopts a qualitative approach, integrating various tools such as interviews, field diaries, photographs, videos, and spatial evaluation forms. These tools allowed for a comprehensive diagnosis of the socio-spatial functioning of Tungurahua N°1 Detention Center. The results highlight evident structural deficiencies, including overcrowding and a lack of adequate spaces for rehabilitation activities. The final proposal is structured around criteria divided into four axes: location, required spaces, spatial relationships, and comfort levels. Each of these elements aims to address the identified issues, providing clear guidelines for the design of the Ambato Social Rehabilitation Center, a project to be carried out by the municipality of Ambato. The research concludes by acknowledging that penitentiary rehabilitation transcends mere architectural dimensions, requiring a comprehensive approach that also considers psychological and socio-environmental aspects. In summary, this investigation provides a solid foundation for the planning and design of the new correctional facility, focusing on creating an environment that promotes the effective rehabilitation and reintegration of incarcerated individuals.
