الملخص:The present investigation work was carried out it in the lands of the Experimental Farm "San Pablo" of the Agricultural Ability of Sciences of the Technical University of Babahoyo located in the Km. 7 ½ via Babahoyo - Montalvo, County of The Ríos. The area a humid tropical climate is presented, with a temperature annual average of 25.4 °C, with a precipitation annual average of 2.048 mm, evaporation average of 1.132,9 mm, relative humidity of 79 % and 725.1 hours of annual heliofania. The aim of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance and the best mix of substrate in lettuce production, by the hydroponic method. The experiment was conformed by seven treatments, which were Fuzz of rice 50 % + sand 50 %; Fuzz of rice 40 % + sand 60 %; Fuzz of rice 30 % + sand 70 %; Sawdust wooden 50 % + sand 50 %; Sawdust wooden 40 % + sand 60 %; wooden Sawdust 30 + sand 70 % and sand 100 %, all these treatments analyzed totally at random under a design of blocks. The data evaluated were: plant weight, number of leaves per plant, plant height, leaf length, yield and days to harvest. The results indicate that the highest yield was obtained using 100 % sand.
