Sumari:Rice in Ecuador is considered one of the most important grasses for the income and food of many families, its production is carried out in stages throughout the year depending on the area where it is produced, in certain areas it is planted up to three cycles year. The objective of this research is to determine the sustainability of rice production systems under fertilization conditions in the Babahoyo canton, mainly focusing on the CEDEGE area, where the highest production is concentrated, a methodology will be used to evaluate sustainability, the information It will be obtained through surveys with 15 variables aimed at obtaining sociocultural, economic and ecological information, the study will be based on the Sarandón methodology, where sustainability will be tabulated and demonstrated for each of the indicators within the production systems of rice. The result that was obtained was that the general sustainability in production systems in the CEDEGE area was 2.12, being unsustainable because one of the three dimensions was less than 2 (ecological sustainability). The ecological dimension is where the highest concentration of critical points was found in the evaluation with values that are close to the zero point by comparing an ideal value to a real value in the production systems due to certain circumstances or difficulties that were not reached. be sustainable. Where it is recommended to carry out corrective measures for these critical points, monitoring them over time in order to become sustainable through follow-up in future evaluations.
